What is the job of a DRÄXLMAIER flying doctor?

Marian is a development engineer. As a flying doctor, he travels for DRÄXLMAIER across the world to analyze errors and solve problems in complex high-voltage systems.

Speed and flexibility

"When it comes to the 800 volt battery, premium automotive manufacturers, for example, rely on our diagnostic expertise. We come to the customer's site as experts in fault analysis and provide support from development to series production," says Marian, who coordinates the 11-member flying doctors team at DRÄXLMAIER. "Since errors usually happen out of the blue, we have to be extremely fast and flexible. Troubleshooting is really my thing. I love this task."

The team spirit of the DRÄXLMAIER flying doctors is unique because working with high-voltage systems requires maximum precision and absolute trust. "We can always count on each other's support in the team,” Marian says. With each team member being an expert in a specific area, I can assign tasks accordingly.

Cross-functional collaboration

Marian absolutely revels in the fact that his tasks differ from assignment to assignment. He also appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with different departments: "Among other things, our task is to narrow down what causes the error and get down to the root cause in collaboration with specialists from system testing, software, hardware, electrical or mechanical development. In doing so, we work closely with the corresponding areas from quality and the plants, which all can benefit from our experience and expertise. We support each other!"

Going places

In addition to the cross-functional cooperation, the DRÄXLMAIER flying doctors are travelling all over the world. For Marian, foreign assignments – in South Africa, Sweden or Spain, for example –  are part of everyday working life. "Through my travels, I have built up an international network,” he says. “At the same time, we also rely on digital cloud solutions. With the help of augmented reality glasses, we even support colleagues in other plants remotely."
